Wheels and Waves. This unique cultural event in Downtown Seaside, September 8–10, 2006, brings thousands together for a classic pre–1962 hot rod and custom vehicle show – a slice of American history. Miss Oregon Scholarship Program. The Miss Oregon Scholarship Program provides personal and professional opportunities for young women in culture, politics and the community. The program is a forum for young women to express their viewpoints and talents to audiences during the telecast and to the public. Winners received a $10,000 scholarship with the Miss Oregon crown awarded June 29 – July 1 at the Seaside Convention and Civic Center. Miss Oregon will compete for the Miss America title. Downtown Wine Walk. Seaside wineries offer tastes of a variety of fine wines and complimentary appetizers each May and November in downtown. Participating wineries are: Anne Amie, Rex Hill, Temptress Wines, Nehalem Bay Winery, Anam Cara Cellars, Mia Jove, Champagne Creek Cellars, Hip Chicks do Wine, and Mia Sonatina. Crab and Seafood Festival. The annual Astoria–Warrenton Crab and Seafood Festival in April at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds, features seafood, Oregon wines and beers, live music, 150 arts and crafts booths, and spectacular views of Saddle Mountain and Youngs Bay. Feast on crab fritters, crab cakes, shrimp and crab cocktails, oyster shooters, crab melts and the traditional crab dinner.Lewis & Clark Explorer Train. Ride the Lewis & Clark Explorer Train along the Oregon’s lower Columbia River to Astoria. The train takes you to historic sites visited by the Lewis & Clark Corps of Discovery and includes passage through nature reserves and over river trestles.
